2 Days in Atlanta

Hi,

Do you think that 2 full days (3 nights) would be enough to get a reasonable feel for Atlanta? We%26#39;d like to go to the civil rights museum, maybe the Coke museum and then just do a bit of shopping. We were thinking about staying in a B%26amp;B (maybe the Gaslight?) and leaving the car and travelling on the subway if possible.

Also, one more thing. Do you think it%26#39;d be doable to drive from Atlanta to Pensacola or would we need a night%26#39;s stopover on the way? I don%26#39;t really want to waste a night (and there doesn%26#39;t seem to be much in between the two places) but I don%26#39;t want to be sick of driving either.

Any advice mwould be appreciated,

Thanks,

Steve.

Yes, I think that would be enough time to get a feel of ATL. Driving from Atlanta to Pensacola at one time? For me...definitely, 5 hours really isn%26#39;t all that much in a days time.

Yeah, I think you%26#39;d have enough time to get a feel for the city. I am not familiar with the Gaslight, but you%26#39;ll want to make sure there%26#39;s a MARTA station in walking distance in selecting a hotel.

You can easily drive to Pensacola in one day.

I%26#39;ve done the Atlanta-Pensacola drive many times and would not dream of stopping overnight. It%26#39;s a very easy (and very boring) 5-hour-ish drive.

PS: I think the Gaslight is in a great location if you have a car, but it%26#39;s not convenient to any MARTA station. I used to live just a few doors down from it and people who have stayed there have seemed to like it. If you want to travel by MARTA, you should stay somewhere within a couple of blocks of a station.

Great.. thanks guys! That%26#39;ll save me a night!

I%26#39;ll look again at the MARTA thing... thanks. I%26#39;m guessing that%26#39;s the best way to get around.

Bye the way, is Pensacola to New Orleans equally doable?

PS

We will have a car but I just have the impression of Atlanta being huge and scary to drive around and find parking etc.

Pensacola - New Orleans is a much shorter trip. 3-3.5 hrs, maybe? I%26#39;ve never done it straight through but it can%26#39;t be more than 4.

But there are some interesting stops along the way if you want to stop to dine or sightsee. Biloxi is about halfway and has casinos and lots of restaurants, and is an eye-opening demonstration of Katrina%26#39;s destruction (as are all the beach towns between Biloxi and NO).
