We are staying at the Red Roof Inn in Midtown.
My question is can you use the Cat system to get to historic Savannah?? Any imput on this or on other ways to travel from midtown to historic district are welcome.
can you use Cat In Midtown to get to historic district??
Yes! You will be very close to Abercorn Street, just about a 1 to 2 block walk west from your hotel. The CAT Bus #14 runs up and down Abercorn to the Historict Disctrict all day and into the evening. Also check with the Red Roof - when it was a Hampton Inn, they had a shuttle van to the Historic District, and if I am not mistaken, I think I have seen the van with the lettering changed to Red Roof.

Yes. CAT -- Chatham Area Transit ---buses run to the historic district from Abercorn St, which is one block west from the Red Roof on Stephenson Ave. Abercorn is a major north-south bus route. Check the CAT website.
There are a couple of tour companies running complimentary downtown shuttles to %26amp; from the area, Old Savannah Tours and Old Town Trolley are 2 that come to mind. This is on the assumption that your hotel concierge or desk person has sold you a ticket for that company%26#39;s particular tour, and the shuttles will pick you up in the a.m. and take you to the tour, and return you to the hotel later in the day. If you%26#39;re going to take a guided trolley tour, this is the way to go, with service at your hotel front door.
But if you want to pay for public bus transportation, that%26#39;s fine, too.
Thanks guys!
If your responses are any example of how nice people in Savannah are...I can%26#39;t wait to experience it in person!
My mom and I are coming down next wk and we talk everyday about things we want to do and see.
We will not be driving...our plan was to take a taxi from the airport and yes the hotel does have a shuttle but we wanted to check the buses just in case. The shuttle in case anyone wants to know is run Thurs thru Sunday from the Red Roof.
As first time visitors any suggestions for us???
We can%26#39;t to visit in Savannah and Iwill post after we come back !!
Thanks Again!!!!!:)
