I-75 traffic northbound and where to stop

Will be returning to Kansas in the next week or so from Florida. Saw the following ';There is construction on I-75 south below Mt Zion Road (McDonough area),';...due to this would it be better to stop for the day before getting to this area...We will most likely arrive in your area around 5pm on a Friday. Last year we stayed at Stockbridge on our trip home.

Also if we should stay farther south of the McDonough area, any suggestions....I like the comfort suites due to their no smoking policy and larger rooms with sitting area...

Thanks for any help....

I-75 traffic northbound and where to stop

I have family that lives in the McDonough area. Whenever I visit them-day or night, weekday or weekend, there is always a traffic jam. And they give me grief for living on the Northside. Anyway there is an area just south of McDonough, called Locust Grove, around exit 112 I believe. It seems to be just far enough south before all the traffic starts backing up. I know there is a Tanger Outlet center, restaurants and several hotels at that exit. Good luck!

Depends on what time you arrive in the atlanta area. If you can figure out a way to not hit Atlanta until after 7pm on Friday (unless it is raining) then I would try to get north of atlanta and stop. But if you are in the Macon area around 2-3p, I would stop in Locust Grove or McDonough/ Stockbridge and spend the night.

thanks for your suggestions.....

Friday, late afternoon in Atlanta. Please put me out of my misery. I am so glad I moved away from the Atlanta area many years ago. However, I have been subjected to this scenario from time to time by relatives who had to be picked up at the airport and doctors%26#39; appointments at Emory.

Yes, settle in South and venture North later on Saturday. It is doable. Just know you need a lot of patience.

update....we will be leaving this Wednesday 4-15, so will be in the Atlanta area day after tomorrow....

if traffic backed up, will try for Stockbridge....thanks everyone...kc
