Just back from SAV and Jekyll Island

HI all, I don%26#39;t do trip reports but here%26#39;s a few tidbits on our trip last week to Savannah (where we bought a house last year since we loved the city so much) and a two day trip to Jekyll Island:

1) Great food- at Hungry Hannahs%26#39; in downtown Brunswick- best hashbrowns I have ever, ever tasted. Great seafood at Speed%26#39;s Kitchen on Shellman Bluff- very down to earth, BYOB, friendly service, laidback. Great downtown bistro food in SAV at B. Matthews on East Bay St. Also had a decent breakfast with some unusual choices at Sunrise on Tybee Island. You can%26#39;t go wrong with food in Savannah. Dinner at Cha Bella was expensive but very good (downtown Savannah, forgot the street)

2) accomodations- Days Inn on Jekyll was the usual Days Inn motel- very clean though, nothing fancy but it is on an exquisite beach, one of the most beautiful stretches of beaches I%26#39;ve ever seen. I%26#39;d stay there again just for the beach. Savannah- we stayed at the Mulberry Inn which is a Holiday Inn property and loved it- great service, very clean, got an upgrade to a junior suite which was great. This is a real hotel, much to my surprise. Excellent place!

3) Jekyll Island- as others have said, its pretty low-key, not much to ';do'; unless you want to walk the great beaches. Very little nightlife, not many places to eat and none, IMHO%26lt; that were outstanding. We%26#39;re glad we went but next time will try St Simon which was clearly huge compared to Jekyll, very much a town-like atmosphere. Bike rental was worth it on Jeklyll.

4) Advise- bring bug spray for sand knats if you%26#39;re planning a trip soon- they were ferocious!

5) Otherwise, enjoy yourself, there is nothing like Southern Hospitality. I wish I was there right now. Back to work, rats!

Thanks for that.

Never heard of Hungry Hannah%26#39;s will have to give it a try.
