Looking for nice overnight trip from Atlanta

Wants..To see northern parts of Ga on the way, and mountains on the way to whatever place we pick.

I know there is Biltmore house, this sounds like a good choice, lots of stuff to do and see around there.(hopefully nice things to see on the way up) This may be what we end up doing, as we would see mountains and sights on the way to Biltmore, but wandering if there are any other good options.

We mainly want to see mountains on the way and whatever we pick as a destination should have lots of things to do and see. Scenic stuff, nice resturants and shopping. Not so big on camping or rafting or things like that.

Anyone have suggestions or does Biltmore sound about what I am looking for?

We would probably want to leave in the morning and come back the evening of the next day...

Go up 985 to Clayton and Dillard- eat at Dillard house and go over to Franklin NC then to Highland NC and on to Biltmore House. 64 is a nice mountain route with waterfalls and scenic river setting.
