Sunrock mountain cabin

Has anyone ever stayed at a cabin on Sunrock mountain called ';the View';? It is managed by Kaylor Cabins. What I am wondering is how close the cabins are to each other and if there is much construction noise. Also, how are the roads and how long does it take to get to restaurants and other areas like Lake Blue Ridge, Tocca River, hiking trails etc.?

My husband and I almost bought property to build a cabin on Sun Rock Mountain because the views are amazing and it is convenient to town. At the time (this was last year) the steep gravel roads could be sketchy if you were in a car and there had been any rain. The biggest problem that we discovered is that one side of the mountain has had numerous water outages and problems with the community well. That situation can be a real mess and a long term problem which was our main reason for not buying there. We were planning on renting our cabin out and our property manager would not take anything on Sun Rock because of the water issues. If you are interested in staying at any cabin on Sun Rock, I would ask the management company if the cabin has had ANY water problems, if there is any construction close by (there was a lot last year) and how close you would be to other cabins because every property is different. Good luck and enjoy Blue Ridge---we love it!!

flgatorgirl,

EXCELLENT advise. These questions should be asked to all cabin companies of any property.

Cabinqueen-

Just wanted to let you know we were lucky enough to get snow at our cabin the day after Christmas. That is when all of the family showed up, so it worked out great. We had a roaring fire and ate like little pigs all day. We also finally got to check out Sunday brunch at Brasstown Valley Resort. What a pleasant surprise that was-------beautiful facility and delicious, quality brunch for $16.95! It really exceed my expectations. Have you tried Copperhead Lodge in Blairsville yet? We did not make it, but are hoping to try it when we are back up in February. Hope you had a great Christmas!!

I%26#39;ve never heard of Copperhead Lodge, so we%26#39;ll have to give it a try. Ellijay has a new ';white tablecloth'; restaurant called Mountain House. It%26#39;s really great, and a very nice atmosphere.

Glad you enjoyed Brasstown, I love their food.

It was near 70 degrees today in Blue Ridge/Ellijay, absolutely beautiful.

Ahhh! I wish you had bought on Sunrock Mountain. We just did about a year ago and absolutely LOVE it! It is my true heaven on earth! I love my cabin and I LOVE my views (from all 3 levels).

We bought on the LEFT side of the mountain which is ALL paved. You must be talking about the right side with the steep gravel road?

We haven%26#39;t had any problems at all with water but I did hear something about the very top which might be where you are talking about. Just so you know, the water is just about to be turned over to city water so any problems there might have been, should be resolved.

We did just recently put it in a rental program only because we are not getting up as often as we would like but we do try to get up there once a month.

We%26#39;d love to see another FL family up there (and of course GATOR fans)!
