Airport security at the E gates

Can anyone tell me why you must go thru security again when you arrive at the international ';E'; gates.

You have not left a secure area and yet you must go thru security again ! What a pain.

And also why you must claim your bags at E gates ( I understand this) but then must put them on another belt and claim them again in the main terminal?? Another pain.

And why it is so difficult for a Green Card holder to come back to the USA? This black immigrations woman practicaly stripped searched my wife. Not really, but almost. Is it because we just returned from Europe and she is jealous? We are not predidiced, it just seems white women have a problem with black women who are in authority

Why is it relevant that the immigration officer is black?

For a discussion on why you have to go back through security see here:

If you approached the situation with the same attitude that you wrote this post, it%26#39;s not surprising that you had a problem with someone in authority.

We do not, and did not, have an attitude towards anyone. We said ';good morning'; Smiled and handed over our documents.

I felt I could be a little more candid on this posting site.

Thank you to the first reply. But those people on the trains to other concourses are already in a ';secure'; area. Agree the bag handling could be better. Hopefully it will be better when they finish the new international concourse.

Your first 3 paragraphs were legitimate and were answered very well by J. Your last paragraph was offensive (not ';candid';) on more than one level.

no offense Cath, but that airport IS horrible! I dont get why when you%26#39;re in the secure area you have to keep going through security, but it sure beats Houston!

But, as soon as the OP got into a racist rant, it negated any of the logical points he was trying to make. And the last sentence makes no sense. And, people who work in airports are used to dealing with people returning from more exotic locations...

But, before digital cameras and the TSA, any time I asked security to hand inspect high speed film I got treated like crap and thoroughly searched. I never attributed this to my race or the race of the security person.

I sincerely hope that screeners are not searching people based on race and religion. This conversation has gotten far afield, but I cannot let the prior post pass without comment. We most certainly are not ';at war with Islam.';

The reply I received from Hartsfield-Jackson, was that the United States Government is fully aware that certain international airports do not measure up to the security specifications of U.S. airports. Therefore all U.S.bound passengers and their baggage must be screened again, before they become internal U.S. passengers and baggage.

I would strongly advise the poster to go through Charlotte as the way they cater to re-entry is more passenger friendly and the staff there are wonderful.

As to your third point, regarding green card holders. Green card holders are not U.S. citizens and therefore they are only here on the goodwill of the U.S. Government, said Government can revoke your Green Card at any time it so wishes, hence the expiration date. Having a green card does not give you the same rights as, say someone traveling on a U.S. passport. Therefore you are no different to someone traveling on a foreign passport,it is just as a courtesy you are able to join the U.S.line and are able to enter the United States.
