Hello All,
We are looking to visit Savannah sometime this summer and was wondering if there was a great hotel in the Historic District that has great deals, food and service. Food is optional, but it would be nice.
I do have an additional question: what activities are must dos when visiting Savannah?
Thank you for sharing.
Best Hotel in Historic District
';Best'; is, obviously, very subjective.
I would recommend you look into the following, one of which may meet your definition of best:
The Mansion on Forsyth (a little far out maybe a mile from the river) very interesting place nice second floor bar, their restaurant has been up and down, maybe you can hit an up!
Avia, brand new boutique hotel has a restaurant also a Ruth%26#39;s Chris next door, very central
Westin, across the river but little walk on ferries run to it all day and evening from River Street, has a great brunch
Marshall House, restored old building, very central, pretty good restaurant and nice bar in the hotel
The biggest must do is walk, and slow down. Savannah is best enjoyed slowly, like anything interesting and complex.
Best Hotel in Historic District
as a Savannah resident, I agree with everything in above post.
We just stayed in the Hyatt Regency with a great deal through Priceline. Liked the hotel and the location on the water. Easy walking around the historic district, too. Not your traditional-feel hotel, but quite good.
The Hyatt seems dirty each time I go inside, despite renovating not long ago. I dunno what%26#39;s going on.
I%26#39;d book The Avia, its brand new, centrally located. It is getting rave reviews on travel sites and in travel magazines.
If the Hyatt had been dirty when we were there I wouldn%26#39;t recommend it. We had no issues with cleanliness of the room or the public areas. Wherever you stay, a good Greek restaurant is the Olympia on the river by the Hyatt.
