We are visiting in mid May and would really love to bring our boat, however, there is very limited parking at the motel. Does anyone know if there is a place where we can pay to park a 23 ft. boat for 4 or 5 days? It doesn%26#39;t have to be a slip, just a parking lot or space. Thanks!
Bringing a boat
try the following:
Hogan%26#39;s Marina 912-897-3474
Savannah bend marina 912-897-3625.
Just a quick question, where are you staying? I ask because you see boats parked in the parking lot of several motels on the island or on the road.
You may want to check with Ocean Plaza hotel (912-786-7777) They are located on tybee and have a large empty lot/field that you may be able to pay to park it in.
good luck
John
Bringing a boat
there are several marinas around Savannah. Do a google search for ';marinas, Savannah Ga.';
The ones at Thunderbolt are the closest to the usual Savannah motels/hotels. I really don%26#39;t think that you will find a public or private lot that is willing to take the risk of someone stealing your boat right from the parking lot.
I forgot to mention we are looking for a SAFE place. John, we are staying at the Royal Palm. We stay there every year and it%26#39;s sort of a tradition now. Parking there is very cramped. We%26#39;ll probably check out the local marinas or just keep the boat at home if nothing comes up. Thanks :)
okay. So you are staying on Tybee. The closet Marina will be Hogans. They should have space. They are about 15 minutes rom where you are staying. River bend is about 20 minutes from where you are staying. It is in Thunderbolt and is a straight drive from Tybee.
The lot I was refering to at Ocean Plaza is in front of their motel. It is fenced and there are usually campers and boats in it sometimes. I figured it may be worth a call. They can only tell you no.
All of the places I referred to would be considered safe. If someone wants to steal or trash your boat they will do it in your driveway just as quick. Stolen boats are not near as bad around here as they are if Florida.

We decided to keep the boat home this time. We%26#39;ll be back at the coast (Richmond Hill) again in October for a special fishing/crabbing/shrimping trip. We did check on a few marinas near Tybee and that seemed to be the best way to go - to keep the boat in the water and just drive to it whenever we wanted to go out, but we decided our time will be spent doing other things and that if we included going out on the boat, we may be pushing our time to where we aren%26#39;t relaxing as much as we want to be. Looking forward to the Beach Bum weekend. Here we come !
Have fun at the bum party. Things are really starting to get going with the fishing right now. It has been a good spring and looks to be getting better everyday. It figures since I have not been able to hit the river a single time. Based on everything I see The fall should be great.
Last weekend the beach was full and parking was not to be found. There is a lot of beach this year with all the sand they pumped up.
So have fun and be safe.
John
