route from new orleans to blue ridge

hi could anyone tell me the quickest way to get from new orleans to blue ridge georgia? all the map sites tell me i should go through atlanta, however, it seems to me the traffic will be bad. we%26#39;ll be driving in on saturday. i looked at going through birmingham then to chattanooga then blue ridge and about 30 minutes longer but wouldnt i avoid traffic. any suggestions would greatly help!

Traffic shouldnt be bad on a saturday, except for areas of construction and if there is a braves game. Tune your radio to 750am when you get about an hour from atlanta -- they do traffic reports often, and you could take the 285 bypass around atlanta if downtown is clogged for any reason

take i-20-efrom birmingham to atlanta and take i-285-n towards chattanooga to i-75-n about 15 miles to i-575-n which turns into 4 lane hwy 515-n and goes straightinto blue ridge. enjoy your trip~

Having taken this route - I agree with bbqman. You will still go though some traffic around Atlanta, but at least you will by-pass the downtown area.
