Good central location

I am going to spend one evening and the following morning in Savannah in late May and am looking for a good central location. I would like to spend the morning visiting some of the squares and taking photos. Can anyone recommend a hotel that%26#39;s covenient to the more scenic squares? We will only have about 2 hours to explore.

Also, how far is City Market from most of the historic areas? WE discovered a pizza place there on our last visit and think we will return there for a quick cheap dinner.

WE usually have points at Holiday Inns or Choice hotels if there is one that is very central to the above areas. I noticed there were a few holiday inn hotels.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Good central location

The Holiday Inn Express on Bay Street should work perfect. It is 4-5 easy blocks from Vinnie Van Go Go%26#39;s in City Market and a block from River Street.

The hotel it is on the corner of Abercorn and Bay, Abercorn has squares, Bull Street which is two blocks west, is the center of town and also has squares.

I would walk south on Bull, to Forsyth park, walk around the park a little, then go to Abercorn and head back to your hotel. A nice little walk.

Good central location

Unless it has changed Vinnie%26#39;s is only open in the evenings. It has been a while since I have been down there during the day. There are several good hotels on Bay street which will work. Just make sure that they hotels on Bay street are not WEST of MLK.

Thanks for the tips! Good to know about not staying west of MLK. WE will be there in the evening so we can go to Vinnie%26#39;s, we just won%26#39;t be doing much exploring after a 10 hr drive. I%26#39;m looking forward to exploring the next morning though.

We like the Hampton on Bay. Also near everything.

You may want to consider an on/off trolley ride so you can get the lay of the land and then hop on and off at places you really like.

Also, tried to fit in short visit to Bonaventure Cemetary (famous from the book Midnight in Garden of Good and Evil). Truly a beautiful and historic place.

Be sure to check out River St the first night. Save the squares for next morning.
