Last year we came to Tybee and had a wonderful time. We stayed at the Desoto and ventured into Savannah by the trolley tour-it was worth it not to have to park and to get around easily. The only drawback was the expense of the Desoto-it ran us over $1,000 for a four night stay. I plan to return again this fall and I am making it a girl trip, so the Desoto is not a good option this time partially because of cost, but partially because the only ocean view rooms have king beds. So I guess my question is two parts:
Is the Howard Johnsons as nice as the Desoto?
AND-
Can you stay in Savannah and come to the beach for the day and enjoy yourself with the pier as your base of operation?
