Where to Go Where to Eat?

Spending a long week-end in Savannah. It has been a long time since we were in the city. We do not want to stand in line to eat fried chicken at Paula%26#39;s. We are trying to remember some other places we enjoyed eating. Is there a place called Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House? If so, does anyone know if it is open on Saturday or Sunday? I remember long lines that move quickly and food served around a large table family style. Is it still there and still good?

We also remember a seafood restaurant somewhere out of town by a river? We think it might have been called Love%26#39;s? Right name? Can someone tell me how to find it again?

We used to love a seafood restaurant set in the woods between Savannah and Tybee, off to the right when driving east. Someone told me that it had been converted into a BBQ place owned by a Paula relative. Can anyone confirm this?

After eating the only things we have ever done in Savannah are take the tour featuring the Garden of Good and Evil and shop for tourist junk along the river.

We are older and have mobility issues so long walks are no longer effective for us. Does anyone have any recommendations for things to do in the general area?

Where to Go Where to Eat?

Ms Wilkes is only open for lunch and during the week, sorry.

It is Loves, it is on Hwy 17, between Hwy 204 (Abercorn) and Richmond Hill. Take Abercorn south way out past all the malls and stuff, you will see the signs for hwy 17, (if you get to I-95, you missed it). Take a left on 17, Love%26#39;s is a few miles down on the right.

The place on the island (I can%26#39;t remember the name) is in fact gone, it is now Uncle Bubba%26#39;s.

I would recommend a trolley tour, they cover a good bit of he history of the city and you can get tours with on/off privileges which allows you too use it like a shuttle all day, saving some walking.

Thanks Brian. Pity we cannot have lunch at Mrs. Wilkes. Maybe we will just have to stay until Monday:-)

Great directions to find Love%26#39;s. Is Uncle Bubba%26#39;s any good? We also love great BBQ. What are the crowds like. I remember we need to eat early at Love%26#39;s or the lines are long.

Busy...

I recommend Loves I go there every time I visit Savannah its fantastic!

we adore the sides at wall%26#39;s bbq.....

I would not go to Bubbas especially for bbq.

Try Angel%26#39;s bbq on Oglethorpe lane behind the big church on the corner ob Bull and Oglethorpe. Excellent bbq and interesting sides, great people too, they own it, cook and run the place every day.
