My husband and I will be in Savannah for 3 days and would like to see as much of the history as possible. What are the most interesting places to visit. We would like suggestions of what to visit, where to stay and restaurants. We are newly retired and are on a limited budget but like to stay in nice safe hotels.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Your best bet would be to search all through this site as this is a very, very common question. Hotels range from about $100 up easily a night in the Historic District. So you might search under Savannah hotels and also actitities or history or some such search word. Its a very, very easily walkable city with a regular downtown, lots of places to eat and over 20 ( I think) squares throughout the District which are each tiny parks wrapped among the streets. Bring your walking shoes, sign up for a tour maybe (search under tour also), you will love it. When are you coming? Summer is very hot and humid and St Patrick%26#39;s Day is very crowded so you might want to work around the heat and the major holidays as it is a popular place.
