Tacos al pastor?

I use to frequent the Zocalo%26#39;s location near Grant Park for tacos al pastor. They were the closest to the street vendors in Mexico Center that I could find in the ATL. Now that this place has closed I am desperate for a tacos al pastor experience. Does anyone know of anyplace in Atlanta or within an hour%26#39;s drive where I can find this dish? Typically the pork is cooked on a revolving spit with a fresh pineapple at the top. The server slices little succulent slivers of pork onto a taco along with the pineapple juice and a small slivers of the fruit. The taco is often topped with cilantro and finely chopped raw onion.

Tacos al pastor?

Tacqueria Los Hermanos in Tucker. Don%26#39;t be put off by the strip-mall-next-to-a-Publix location. It%26#39;s the real deal. It%26#39;s become the Atlanta foodies%26#39; default option for unpretentious quality authentic Mexican.

But don%26#39;t take my word for it:

Tacos al pastor?

Couldn%26#39;t agree more. We%26#39;re big fans of Los Hermanos. They%26#39;ve opened a third location on Sugarloaf Parkway in addition to Tucker and Lilburn.

I finally made it to this spot yesterday and was very disappointed. This dish is not at all like the tacos al pstor I buy on the street in Mexico City or like the dish that was once served at the old Zocalo%26#39;s location neat Grant Park. The pork fillimg is more like s stew. I could taste nor see amy pineapple. The pork filling has cooked onions in it and it is very wet and messy. The tacos al pastor I have had at other places (Mexico and San Diego) have small succulent slivers of pork with chopped fresh pineapple. Typically it is served with finely chopped raw onion and cilantro and a lime slice to squeeze on the juice. These tacos were large while traditionally they are served on small tacos that are about the circumferance of a cookie --maybe two bites. I was very disappointed. The staff was very friendly, but the floor of the place was littered in broken chips and cast off napkins. The bathroom also needed attention. I ordered three tacos but only ate one and tossed the go box in the nearest trash can, if anyone knows the tacos al pastor I am seeking please send me a name and address--this is NOT the place to find them.

Your best bet is to go to Buford Hwy inside of I-285. There are several ';authentic'; mexican restaurants there. I remember that a friend took me to one about 10 years ago, but I didnt like the ';authentic mexican'; as it seemed to ';plain'; to me, so I have not returned. But there are several there, and you should be able to find your dish at one of them.

This photo looks VERY much like what I am looking for!! Thank you so very much! I live more than an hour away so as soon as I have an opportunity to visit this place I will do so. This looks like spit roasted pork slices--thank you so much for this link and your response.
