Mom and daughter trip 4-22 thru 4-26(beware lengthy!:)

Savannah is wonderful!

Stayed at Red Roof Inn Midtown...nice hotel, clean, not fancy...nice staff.

Simple breakfast (cereal bagels etc.) free-enough to get you going in the morning. Would advise to rent car as we did.

We ate at:

The Good:

Mrs Wilkes (wonderful-great southern old time food-well worth the hour wait and 16.00!)

Sweet Potatoes(by our midtown hotel)-good food...not expensive.

Johnny Harris-excellent barbeque...again not expensive..great friendly service!

Leopolds-Not only do they have ice cream to die for but a pretty darn good chicken salad sandwich!

Vinnie VanGOGO-we got take out and thought they made a mistake-4 pieces of pizza looked like a whole pie-and yummy to boot!

Tony Roma-Mom had giant burger and I had bbQ sandwich-not bad for a not so traditional choice in Savannah.

The Bad-

Pirates Inn-very disapointed. We had heard good things but was terrible. Expensive (which all the above were not) which we would not have cared but it was not good. I will write more indepth review in their category...but bottom line...bad food bad service. Very sad as this was our splurge night out.

We did:

Market Square- not as many shops as we thought...mostly galleries but Vinnie Van GoGo is there and there was a guy singing and playing guitar who was quite good.

Shops at River Street-best bet for souvenir shopping..cool atmosphere and resturants.

Trolly tours: 1 day Ogelthorpe ...one day old Savannah...fun and informative easy way to get around with on/ off option.

Ghost Tour -Ogelthorpe-had a great guide...fun way to spend the evening!

Visted Tybee and Bonadventure Cemetary(which is a must see!)

Visted Juilette Low birthplace-very interesting.

Also the beautiful catholic church-highly recommend stopping there...it will take your breath away!!

If you are not staying in town -rent a car -the only bad thing is little parking and some crazy drivers!

Would I visit again??? You betcha!!!!!

Just an update...I reviewed all the places I mentioned on their individual sites so check those if interested in more details.

Last night I turned on the tube and Midnight in the Garden on Good and Evil was on. It was so cool to see all the places we visted in Savannah!
