My husband and I will be driving from Commerce, GA, to Gulfport, MS, on Monday, May 4th, heading home to Texas from North Carolina. We would like to avoid the work traffic. Would the worst be over by 9:00am? Thanks for the help.....

You%26#39;ll still see some traffic, but the worst of it will be over unless there is a major accident.

or rain ! It would be best to try to hit downtown around 10:30-1:30 if you can. Also tune your AM radio to 750, they give traffic reports every 8-10 minutes, so you could divert and take 285 around the city if you had to.
It won%26#39;t be too bad unless something out of the ordinary occurs. I would avoid 285 unless you find out that there%26#39;s been a major incident on 85 through the city. Traffic on 285 is generally heavier and slower, and would take you on a longer route, unless there%26#39;s been an incident on 85.
Thanks for all the info. You%26#39;ve been a great help. Happy traveling!
We are back from our road trip. Due to bad weather moving into Georgia, we left our rental cabin in Franklin, NC, cancelled our motel in Commerce for the next night and drove all night to Gulfport, MS.
The Atlanta skyline is beautiful at 2:00 in the morning! No traffic either.
Maybe we will stop and enjoy your city on another road trip. Thanks!
