Hi, We are coming from England and arrive around 7pm at Atlanta airport so have decided to stay overnight. We will be picking up a rental car the day after and would like advice as to whether we should pick the car up the day after or when we arrive? Also can anyone suggest a really nice airport hotel? Many thanks!
Advice on Airport Hotel %26amp; car rental
The Hyatt is a very nice spot. There arent any hotels right on AP property, but Hyatts only 5 minutes at most.If it were me,Id rent a car when you arrive, and take it to hotel. Some hotels have car rental spots there, but the rates are different than at AP.You should get clarity on that before commiting to rental.Driving near the AP can be a bit daunting,so make sure you get a map.Youll be arriving after rushhour. When you leave AP take 85 North, and you%26#39;ll see the Hyatt exit on the right--I think its the first exit.Dont take anything that says I285!! have fun
Advice on Airport Hotel %26amp; car rental
You can save a little money by picking up the rental car the next day, as you will be able to use the free hotel shuttle to get to and from the hotel. The airport hotels that are generally considered the nicest are the Hilton, Westin, and Renaissance. Another option, if you%26#39;re not tired and if you%26#39;re interested in having dinner out, would be to stay downtown, which is a 15 minute MARTA ride from the airport. It may be a little late, though, as you probably won%26#39;t be leaving the airport until 8:30ish.
Thank you very much for your help :-)
I find that I%26#39;m usually jetlagged after coming off a flight from the UK. Not the best time to be picking up a rental car and having to adapt to driving on the right. I think you should book one of the suggested airport hotels and then pick up your rental car the next day after a good nights sleep.
when i look at the Tripadviser index, they rate the Hyatt as the most popular near the AP.For the money it really great,I used to have my sales meetings there, and easy to get to--actually less confusing.Heres a link to the ratings at airport hotels----http://www.tripadvisor.com/HACSearch?geo=60898%26amp;q=Atlanta%2C+Georgia%2C+USA%26amp;inDay=08%26amp;inMonth=05%2F2009%26amp;checkIn=5%2F8%2F2009%26amp;outDay=10%26amp;outMonth=05%2F2009%26amp;checkOut=5%2F10%2F2009%26amp;adults=1#02,1241465824203,l1price:S0|999999,l1rating:S0|999999,nameContains:S,sortOrder:SalphaLow,cb:Azfn_7
I don%26#39;t put much stock in TA hotel ratings, which frequently land 2 %26amp; 3 star hotels above 4 star hotels and are based on popularity, not quality. Look at the reviews, not the ratings.
The Renaissance Concorde is one of the closet hotels to the airport. It is very nice and one can watch planes from room window. It can be a bit noisy at times, but always interesting at night. The hotel also offers hotel offers complimentary airport transportation, and is very easy to find interstates nearby.
